Jason Elkin is a very successful media executive with a demonstrated track record of over 30 years. His well-rounded expertise in all areas of television station and network management, as well as his prior experience in program syndication and origination, has been the basis for an exceptionally successful career directing stations to solid and significant increases in revenue and ratings.
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CTN Media Television, Jason took what was essentially a video jukebox and built it into a direct satellite network for colleges and universities. He formed strong relationships with CNN and NBC, providing invaluable benefit to the network and its programming. In four years, Jason increased member colleges from 60 to over 800, generating a weekly audience of nearly 10 million Nielsen measured 18-24 year old viewers through a total of 1,800 university and college locations. Mr. Elkin sold CTN to Viacom in 2002, and the network and business model that he created continues to successfully grow today, operating as part of the MTV group of networks, MTVU.
In 1993, Jason formed New Vision Television, where he led the purchase, operation and sale of eight network affiliated stations. At New Vision, revenues rose more than 30% and cash flow increased more than 60%, from $13 to $22 million, in just one year. Individual stations also achieved significant ratings growth. New Vision Television yielded a return of 138% to its investors.
In 1991, Jason led KOKI-TV for Clear Channel’s television group in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the position of the #1 UHF FOX Affiliate in the country, competing with three VHF stations in less than fourteen months. He was able to promote and program KOKI at extraordinary levels, doubling KOKI broadcast cash flow in one year’s time.
While at WKCH-TV, in Knoxville, Tennessee, his term as General Manager brought substantial growth in ratings and revenue to the station, including an incredible 400% rise in broadcast cash flow. FOX gave Jason an award recognizing WKCH as the most improved FOX affiliate in the nation.
Jason Elkin also had a successful management track record with Taft, Ziff Davis, and Four Star Entertainment.
